‘Meat & Eat Italy’ is an exciting series of culinary tours and trips for foodies through the unknown and ‘off the beaten track’ Italy that the tourists never see.  A must for any foodie interested in seeing food produced at source in the smaller artisan way, in small quantities, sometimes in the home or if it is commercial, in the smaller end of the factory scale.

Be Part of our MEAT & EAT ITALY tours – Italian road trips for real foodies!

In 2019 Hampshire Salami Co will be launching its ‘MEAT & EAT ITALY’ gastro tours.

We will be organising quarterly trips to the undiscovered food heroes of Italy, salumi makers, wine makers, sand cheese makers. We will visit the most vibrant markets, eat the best regional food, and drink the best regional wines that Italy has to offer. The plan is t fun four tours to Italy, one per quarter, to the North (Veneto) , to the South (Puglia), to Tuscany and to the island of Sicily.

Wine, Wheels, Salami & Cheese! –  June 2017

Yes wheels, as Bologna is perilously close to Marinello and that means Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and Ducati country.

Starting in the little known region of Marche, we travelled into the hills and mountain tops where San Marino, the oldest Principality in the world, stands proud. On to Emilia Romagna, seeking the delights of the Po peninsular, the home to some of the best salumi in Italy. Bologna or ‘Le Grasse’ which means ‘The Fat’ is reputed to be the culinary centre of Italy. We then travelled through the Veneto, the home of Prosecco, from the coast and the Venetian lagoon; travelling up the foot hills of the Dolomites where smoked speck is the salumi of the region and Asiago is the cheese. This trip was a blast!

Wine & Salumi – Tuscany to Umbria – March 2016

Landing in Firenze the ‘Chief Salami Wrangler’ and the ‘Wine Legend’ embarked upon a five day speed tour of Tuscany and Umbria. Travelling 800 km in four days, visiting ten vineyards for tastings in two of those days in San Gimignano, Montalcino, Montepulciano and Orvieto, what could go wrong?  The final destination was the salumi delights of Norcia in Umbria in the central uplands of Italy.

Veneto – Mare e Monte – June 2015

From the sea to the mountains of the Veneto region, sampling the best cured meats, visiting producers of the best Prosecco, seeing the best food markets, sampling cheeses from local makers, with our next Aperol Spritz and our next amazing plate of food foremost in our minds.
